Meet John Cole :: Yoga Teacher, Carpenter & Shilo Farm Caretaker
In 2010, John trained in the Rasamaya method with Carrie Tyler as well as the Sacred Centers Chakra training with Anodea Judith at Kripalu in 2012. He studied for a number of years in shamanic dreamwork with Susan Morgan of Mystic Dream Center and holds a BS in mental health counseling from SNHU. John is also a reiki master, an ojibwe pipe carrier, firekeeper and sweat lodge conductor. His main teacher has been the practice itself. He established the first yoga program at the Mount Washington resort and has taught classes and workshops at a variety of studios in the seacoast area.
John’s classes range from slow nourishing movement meditations to bio-energetic clearing, sweat inducing, muscular strengthening practices. All classes are infused with spirit, intention, presence and are a space for everyone to get more in touch with themselves. His intention and current goal as a teacher is to infuse mindfulness into the movement practice while emphasizing the importance of structural alignment and breath. What he loves most about teaching is cultivating those magic moments where everyone’s breath is in sync, the music is aligned perfectly with movement, instruction becomes poetry and a serene still beauty pervades the room.
In the rest of the world John is passionate about serving the community through his carpentry, seeing live music, dancing, hiking, art, minimalism, and slow living. He currently resides at Shilo in his tiny home sharing his skills as a caretaker.
