Sheila’s yoga practice began in 1999 with a prenatal class in Seattle while pregnant with her first daughter. Though she then went on to practice for more than a decade, it was a move to India several years ago – and living and practicing there – that transformed yoga into a way of life for Sheila. In India, she lost her western lens and began to see (and feel) more fully. Back in the US, she went on to complete her 200 RYT at 3 Bridges Yoga in Portsmouth. She is deeply appreciative of all her teachers who have supported her journey and is especially grateful to her mentors, Stepanie Paolini, and Marla Cinilia.
Sheila is humbled by the practice of yoga and by those who commit themselves to it. She is passionate about expressing her true self through her yoga. She leads with her heart – offering love and support for her students. Laughter, too. Her infectious warmth and creative spirit are evident in all she does.
Sheila is originally from Massachusetts, has lived in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, and now lives in Portsmouth with her family. She earned her BFA at the University of Denver and her masters in intercultural relations at Lesley College. She is a gardener and avid ceramicist and currently serves as the development director for the Seacoast Charter School (where she also teaches yoga to adolescents).
FLOW YOGA CLASS DESCRIPTION: This Vinyasa flow class is where breath is linked with movement. There will be more variations on postures with an emphasis placed on deepening into poses and exploring the connections between body, mind, and spirit. This series will be moderately vigorous as we move from one pose to the next to build strength, stability, and stamina.Taught by Sheila Shea
